Shake... Shake... Shaker!!

Hello friends

Its good to be back again... i have been MIA for the last 2 oh no 3 months. What with summer camps, bdays and summer vacation!!

Every year for the summer camp, my camp kids make a lot of interactive cards, but i have never been able to share anything here (already finding hard to blog my cards). but this time ill try and post few atleast.

Ok first of all, ill start by posting few favorites i missed to blog about. I made this just b4 the camp started. Have a look (but i might have posted it in Insta though)

As you know i was addicted to colouring digis lately and this digi found its way to this shaker card. Loved it. Its cute and my daughter gifted it to her friend for birthday. The outline of the digi is clear embossed with Emboss It pen.

The Sequins are from Papericious and almost all other stuff from my crafty scrap. I know i have lots to catch up to. Will be visiting all your blogs soon and the various challenges going on.

Hope you liked my shaker and see you soon with another one. bye bye

My Galaxy card

Hello there crafters....

My first post for March!!
I was soo fascinated with all the galaxy bg cards and i was inspired to do one. Here is my humble attempt at it.

I started off with the idea of a moon and and after few trial this seemed better, that is the sentiment on the moon. The sentiment is heat embossed in silver and slightly distressed with pumice stone DI.

Background
For the bg i have used Faded Jeans, dusty concord and pumice stone. And when i was pretty satisfied with it i splashed it with white acrylic paint.

Shaker
I made a small window with nested rectangle dies and added acetate sheet. Some silver sequins to finish it off. Also i have added silver twine below the Moon.

Thats it for today. Hope you liked it. Thanks for dropping by and have a great week ahead.

Unicorn shaker card

Hello all,

Here is a quick post from me. Its a fun Unicorn shaker card. I actually wanted to do a slider card, but a shaker card was easier to finish for me. So do expect a slider card very soon.

Also Unicorns are my daughter's all time favourite. She is quite a reader and recently she has taken an immense liking to Linda Chapman's Unicorn School. So this card is for my lil darling girl.

Have a look at my unicorn,

The stamp set is from Avery elle 'Be a unicorn'. The images are gold embossed on watercolour paper and coloured with Distress inks.

I have used my new Pumice stone Distress inks for the frame and the sentiment. The sentiment is from Peekaboo designs. Below is a close of the unicorn. I have tried watercolouring with multicolours on the unicorn mane and tail.

Filled the shaker with silver sequins and red stars. Dont ask about this combo... jus went with my crafty gut feeling.

Thanks a lot for dropping by.
Bye bye guys
Bye Feb.
xoxo

Linen Florals

Hello friends,

Here is another card today. I am so stuck to Distress inks and stamps. I hardly ever reach my pattern papers these days. Loving the change. Have a look at my card first,

Gold embossed flowers

This stamp set is from Mudra "Linen blooms", Beautiful set it is.
I have always wanted to make a bg like this, with washi tapes. And finally got the perfect focal point for such a card.

Close up of the Linen blooms

I stamped the flowers in watercolour sheet and heat embossed them in gold. Used DI to colour my flowers. Then fussy cut them and arranged in a bunch.

For the background, i have used Papericious ivory cardstock. I aligned the washi tapes in equal distance and sponged Pumice stone DI and a gradient pattern. Used peekaboo stitched rectangle die here.
washi tape mask background

Wanting to add more interest i added a frame die cut from spellbinders behind my bunch and it looked good. Tried few sequins but i wasnt satisfied and finally went with these black square stones.

I couldnt stop from posting so many pics, Anyway thanks for dropping by, hope you liked it.

Water Coloured Bookmarks

Hi there,

Continuing with my obsession with watercolours, here is a couple of bookmark i made. When ever i try out something new, in ends up as a card or bookmark. Same here, i have tried some bg colouring too.

The images are stamped directly on the water colour sheet and coloured with Distress inks. For the 1st bookmark with blue flowers, I stenciled with gesso to give some texture. Slightly coloured the gesso with vintage photo.

For the second one, it was stamped by my daughter. We have used Neon cubes for this bookmark. And again through chevron stencil, i loosely water coloured it. (learning on the go)

So thats it, some pretty water coloured bookmards. All stamps & sentiments are from mudra craft stamps. Loving it.

There's no one like You

Hi crafty heads,

Am soo excited to share this card today. take a look

Here is another card i coloured with my kids Faber Castell colour pencils. The image is a free digi from the net. I applied a layer of Mod-podge for the glossy look. But the most exciting part for me is the bg. I recently bought a pumice stone DI and i love it. Still trying out different possibilities with it.

After blending in worn lipstick & pumice stone i splashed some water drops and heat dried it. The sentiment is heat embossed. The card front and base are cut from Peekaboo stitched rectangles.

Oh i love clicking photos with props. And i love the girl's pose. Soo lovely.
Thanks for dropping by today.
PS..Am planning to buy some Artist colour pencils (not water colour pencils though), can anyone suggest the best.

xoxo

Gesso BG + Digi Image

Hello there...

February is truly romantic in the blogland with reds & pinks. Loving the ideas everyone come up with. But i am truly in a different mode. Trying out new stuff and new techniques. Some particular idea hits you and u can never come out of it until satisfied.
So this time around it is Digital image & watercolours for me. When my limited supply of image stamps ran out, i have started trying watercolouring and pencil colouring on Digi images.

Ok here is my humble take on colouring Digi images. I have had many challenges. The main being "smearing & bleeding of printer ink". I still havnt overcome it, trying different methods. Hope something works out soon

Water coloured Digi Image

I have coloured the image with watercolour pencils. You can see the difference in the face... skin tones are the most sensitive to bleeding. It was just a trial at watercolouring but i cudnt waste the pic... so made it into a card.

BG
For the bg, i first applied gesso thru Hero Arts chevron stencil and let it air dry. I wanted to make a watercolour washed bg but Distress inks get too diluted and hence the light bg. Gesso resisted the DI and thus a beautiful bg.

Gesso+Stencil in BG

Finally mounted the image on the bg and accessorized it with pearls & ribbon. Sentiment stamped with versamark onyx ink. It really stamped well on gesso too.

So thats it today. Hope you liked it. Do comment on tips to avoid ink bleeding. Thank you

Easy Spider-man theme Birthday invites

Hello all,

Wish you all a happy & love filled February. Am gonna start this month by posting an old project. It was for my son's 3rd birthday and now he is nearly 5.
Here is the card

It is basically a printed card. But i just wanted it to have a handmade touch. So i printed out some spiderman masks and cut it. Then added some twine and poped the spiderman mask with foam dots. Simple, easy & handmade. I have another invite based on the same model but for a little girl. You can check out the card here.

For the envelope, which is from my local stationery shop, i customised it by added two strips of matching washi tapes. Glad my hoarded washis came in use.

Below is the handmade backdrop i made. It added to my son's joys. Simple & customised.

Ok thats it for today. Thanks for dropping by.

My first Mixed Media Layout

Hello lovely ladies,

I am soo excited to share my first mixed media layout. This pic was taken during my son's first tonsure ceremony. Lots of celebration and one of my fav pic.
I really enjoyed playing with different mediums and am now very keen on collecting more sprays & pastes 😀😀😀 A crafters' heart will always want more right?

The pics first as always,

The Layout

The Background
I started my layout on a piece of foam board measuring 8 x 6 inches. I dint have a canvas board. I layered the base with a coat of gesso... surely gesso gives the needed texture. Then directly on the gesso(after drying ofcourse) i started sponging peeled paint and worn lipstick Distress inks.
Once satisfied, i stamped the bg with a script stamp with Hero arts shadow ink (green colour). Wanting to add to the bg, I choose a stencil that i once picked up from my local stationery shop and added gesso through it.
I guess any textured/modelling paste would have given more volume but for more gesso did fine for me.
I wanted to add my fav honey comb design but i only had Tim Holtz stencil, so i decided to use it as a stamp, i applied mild DI on it and pressed it to my bg, And now i used this as an outline and drew on it with an Emboss It pen and heat embossed it gold
Still not satisfied i splashed some black and gold paint on the bg. And now i was satisfied.
The photo which was by the side also got some paint splashes by mistake but it looked gorgeous to me, so i just left it as it is.😃

Close up of the BG

The bg was the scariest part. Having been done with it, I arranged and rearranged the elements to my safisfaction. The flowers are stamped on Papericious Sigma cardstock and coloured with Distress inks. Loved the beautiful smooth cardstock. Perfect one.

The flowers

I also added some papericious green square sequins. By mistake a sequin fell off wen it was half dry and i found that it made a gorgeous texture with the fevicol. So i scrapped off a few more sequins to reveal nice texture.

The bird is paper pierced from a DCWV Mariposa stack. Everything else is mostly from my stash and scrap. Beads, diecuts, corrugated wrap sheet, gold thread, lace, charms and pp.
Popped the flowers with foam dots

Another close up

ok thats it. So did you like it. Any ideas or tips for this novice at mixed media?

So i simply stamped the sentiment & splashed it with gold paint. Then mounted it on green card basse. Below is a close up of the flowers. The stamp set is Mudra's Linen blooms.

Pretty bright right? Thanks for dropping by and hope u liked it.

Baby 1st Year LO

hello ppl,

The Indian weekend was busy with the festival of Pongal and Makar Sankaranthi, brushed with the colours of Earth and Nature. Family gatherings and get togethers had promised a happy picture. And so am a lil late for my post here.

Today am posting a fun baby LO. Its actually a customised photo frame for a friend of mine. Here are the pics,

I was asked to put up all 12 months' pic of the lil one in a single frame. And so i came up with this. I used Papericious baby chipboard set for this project. It goes well with any baby LO and it has many yummy designs and words. It simply made my job easy and perfect.

The name & numbers are cameo cut. It comes in useful at times like these.

Below are some close ups,

Banners & baby chipboard

Balloons & CUTE chipboard

Framed LO

Here it is, all ready to be hung as a forever memory. And yes, the LO is a huge one. 15 x 15 inches. It was a gift for the lil ones' 1st birthday.
